When you're trying to conceive, knowing when you ovulate - your most fertile time of month - is particularly helpful. The BFP Ovulation Test from Fairhaven Health is the ideal way to pinpoint your ovulation date and optimally time your lovemaking (or "babydancing," as it's referred to in the online trying-to-conceive community). Determining this peak fertile window enhances your odds of a seeing a BFP - Big Fat Positive when testing for pregnancy.
The BFP Ovulation Test works by detecting the telltale rise in the Hormone that occurs just before you ovulate - with greater than 99% accuracy. This pronounced spike of the hormone typically occurs 24-48 hours before you ovulate, providing you with a clear signal that your fertile window is open and that intercourse over the next two days will maximize your odds of achieving pregnancy.
Using the BFP Ovulation Test is easy: Simply remove the protective cap from the test and hold the absorbent tip in your urine stream for ten seconds. Replace the cap, and lay the test on a flat surface with the reading window facing up. Within three minutes, your test result will appear. A positive result indicates you're at peak fertility.
How it Works
Ovulation is the release of an egg from the ovary. The egg passes into the fallopian tube where it is ready to be fertilised. In order for pregnancy to occur, the egg must be fertilized by sperm within 24 hours after its release. Immediately prior to ovulation, the body produces a large amount of hormones. This is known as a “surge” and usually takes place in the middle of the menstrual cycle. These hormones trigger the release of an egg from the ovary. The BFP Ovulation Test helps predict the time of ovulation and peak fertility. It is during the fertile time that pregnancy is most likely to occur. The BFP Ovulation Test detects the "surge" in urine, indicating that ovulation is likely to occur in the next 24 to 38 hours. It is important to note that a "surge" and ovulation may not occur in all cycles.
Before You Begin
BFP Ovulation Tests allow you to test over several days to find your most fertile time. Calculate when to start testing using the chart to the right. First calculate the length of your average menstrual cycle. Your menstrual cycle length is the number of days from the first day of your period (menstrual bleeding) to the last day before your next period starts. If your cycle is irregular, you may want to use your shortest cycle length.
EXAMPLE: Your usual cycle length is 28 days. Your period started on the 1st day of the month. The “When to Start Testing Chart” shows to begin testing on cycle day 11. Beginning with the 1st day, count ahead 11 days on the calendar. You would begin testing your urine on the 11th of the month.
