What Is Tyrosine?

Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid, which means that it cannot be synthesised by the body and must be gained from the diet or supplementation.

It can be found in many high protein foods, such as meat, fish cheese, yoghurt and eggs, but often in relatively low amounts.

Tyrosine plays a role in the production of certain neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and norepinephrine, and is a chemical precursor to adrenaline.

The amino acid support Tyrosine is often referred to as L-Tyrosine and 4-hydroxyphenylalanine, which is one of 20 standard amino acids used by cells.

How Should It Be Taken?

Tyrosine should be taken with water, fruit juice or a pre-workout drink approximately 30 minutes before exercise.
