What is Swanson Bee Propolis?

Going back as far as the time of Aristotle in ancient Greece, 350 BC, bee propolis has been marvelled at for its restorative abilities. The Greeks used it to treat abscesses whilst the Assyrians used it to treat battle wounds and tumours - harnessing its ability not just to bind the skin but to disinfect it too. Even the Egyptians recognised its preservative powers and used it to embalm mummies.

But what is it and where does it come from? Bee propolis is a compound created when bees attract the sap from pine trees and other evergreens and it mixes with their own discharge and wax. The result? A sort of bee glue if you will.

Because Propolis is sticky and viscous at room temperature but becomes hard and brittle when temperatures lower, the bees themselves actually use propolis as a sort of resin in their hives. When they find small, unwanted gaps or openings they fill it with propolis.

Incredibly, what is one man's building glue, is another's healing glue. Swanson Bee Propolis harnesses all the goodness of this ancient cure and brings it to you, ready to use.

What is Swanson Bee Propolis used for?

This resin like material actually has a whole host of different uses both purported and genuine. As it turns out, our ancient forefathers were really on to something.

The complex chemical makeup of Swanson Bee Propolis means that it is, in fact a great anti-bacterial. So it's really useful for fighting infections and other bacteria related illnesses. But not just that, it also serves as an anti-inflammatory, an immune system booster and can even aid in the treatment of viral infections.

There is increasing research to suggest that Swanson Bee Propolis is an effective tool in the fight to suppress the symptoms of genital herpes. This notoriously difficult to heal and unpleasant condition doesn't have to cast such a malignant shadow as it once did.
