What is Swanson D-Mannose Powder?

We are often told that sugar is bad for us. Yet here is a sugar that is being sold to us as something that is beneficial to our health. D-Mannose is a form of glucose that occurs naturally in many fruits such as peaches, apples, cranberries and other types of berries.

UTIs are less common in men but occur more frequently in women, who also tend to suffer more with cystitis. For many years, drinking cranberry juice has been the treatment of choice. The problem is, cranberries themselves contain a lot of sugar and the juice may contain added sugar so it would be unsuitable for people who have diabetes or who have an intolerance to glucose.

Bacteria that live in the lining of the bladder can cause irritation, which can then lead to infections. D-Mannose is able to attract these organisms, trapping them and then flushing them out when we pass urine.

What is Swanson D-Mannose Powder used for?

You should drink plenty of water every day. It helps to dilute the urine so that when it flushes through the bladder, the risk of urinary infections is reduced. A daily dose of D-Mannose should assist with this process.

The use of this supplement by people with diabetes is still being debated, because it is a sugar. But D-Mannose filters through the kidneys and passes out of the bladder quickly. Some people say it can be safely taken if you have diabetes. However, because it is a sugar it might make it difficult for you to control your blood sugars.

A study has claimed that D-Mannose may be as effective as antibiotics when it comes to the treatment of UTIs. Some antibiotics have become ineffective in treating infections, because they have been overprescribed for many years. This has led to a growing number of resistant bacteria known as superbugs, where antibiotics have no effect on them.

Many urinary infections could be treated successfully, or even prevented using a supplement like Swanson D-Mannose and improved hygiene.

Using D-mannose Powder may help:

  • Digestive health
  • Maintain good intestinal health
  • Your immune system could be improved
  • Urinary tract
  • Liver function
